  A Facility For The Future

Over the years, the doctors and staff
at RVMC constantly listened to what their patients were saying about the state of health care in the region. They realized there was a need for a facility that housed all the services critical to excellent musculoskeletal care. This new campus was designed to bring a new level of health care to
Fort Smith.

This well-thought-out and open facility features everything to make the patients’ experience comfortable and efficient from start to finish. The medical office building and ambulatory surgery center were constructed with patient conveniences first. Each single-story building has covered drop-off locations with ample level parking. Over 70% of the contractors used to build this center were from the Fort Smith area.

The clinic features spacious waiting areas with wide walk-ways. Once inside an examination room, the patients will find a cozy and private area where they will feel comfortable and secure. The décor is modern and features beautiful artwork on almost every wall. The goal of Marta Jones, art coordinator, was to bring nature indoors using Arkansas and Oklahoma artists and photographers and to give
patients and visitors a pleasant, art gallery experience. The artists selected ranged
in ages from seven to seventy.

With his vision and planning, Ed Hickman, Administrator,
saw to it that the facility was built with Fort Smith’s future in mind, focusing on the crucial issue of recruiting the best new physicians for Fort Smith. The standard of practice for newly trained physicians is to have MRI, CT, and surgery centers on site. These features also benefit patients. People want to be able to go to one place for their health care needs.

With this new facility they are adding computerized radiography, CT, and eight of the newest outpatient operating rooms in Fort Smith.
All musculoskeletal needs not requiring an overnight hospital stay can
be done on this campus.

So what does all this mean? It means that RVMC is at the forefront of health care in the Fort Smith region. It’s that dedication to excellence that makes River Valley Musculoskeletal Center the best people giving the best care.
